Formulas
Whenever I write a song that seems to work well and the congregation enters into worship, I try to never repeat whatever in that song made it so good. This would be a formula, and formulas make for staleness. It could be the rhyme scheme, or the key changes going into the chorus, or a million other things. I may not always write perfect songs every time this way, but at least they’re different. LEO
