MorningStar News September 2005

This July we did a two-week pilot program for our Special Forces Missions program and it went extremely well. The tests this group went through were extraordinary, some of which were like you would go through in real Special Forces training. However, those participating refused to be broken or give up, and they all made it through, worshiping and thanking God all of the way.

One of the surprises we threw at them was skydiving. Several said that it had been a dream of theirs to do this, and others were terrified, considering it a nightmare. Even so, part of this training is to overcome all fear. After the jump, even those who had been the most afraid were ready to go again, a couple even saying it was the greatest experience they had ever had. Fear gone.

The program also included sleeping alone in the woods at night, cross-country navigation through mountains, sleep-deprived long hikes through difficult terrain, and continual trials, while ministering to the Lord and others. The goal of this pilot program was to help us devise a plan for the full program, and it really helped a lot. The point of the SFM is not to just test and help those in the program grow physically, but to prepare them and make them the toughest that they can be mentally and spiritually as well. They will have to learn to expect miracles every day, which sometimes they will need just to survive when they are on a mission.

Again, our goal for this program is to send out the most powerful spiritual force in the world who will preach the gospel of the kingdom and demonstrate its power. As this program develops, we will give out more information for those who are interested. Check our website for updates.
